| | | | | The
town of Kingsbridge, was founded on a steep spur at the head of the Kingsbridge
Estuary. It's name gives the clue to its importance as a crossing point. Today
it is still a busy market town, the focus of the South Hams. There are small
traditional shops in Fore Street and a supermarket nearer to the edge of town.
The town has a large number of pubs, reflecting its history as a market town.
Tourism is now the most important industry in the area and Kingsbridge provides
the services and support to the surrounding area. During the summer months trade
is brisk with large numbers of people moving through the town. |
